Daniel And The King’s Dream

The Bible Shows in Daniel 2:19-43. King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream and no one could interpret that dream but Daniel. In the dream King Nebuchadnezzar saw a great image. but he didn't understand it's meaning. Daniel explained that there would be four Roman Empires through History. His was the first one, but there was a fifth but it developes in pieces. This is a simplified understanding of what the statue in King Nebachudnezzar’s dream represented.

The Dream’s Interpretation - Contained future history and was also a prophetic vision of what would follow the King’s reign. Mind you if you are observant enough, they follow in his footsteps as well.

A. Head of Gold - King Nebuchadnezzar - Neo-Babylonian Empire

B. Chest and Arms of Silver- A second kingdom inferior to Babylon-Medes-Persian Empire (539 - 330 B.C.)

C. Belly and Thighs of Bronze – Is a third kingdom, made of bronze, will rule over the whole earth. Greek Empire (330 - 27 B.C.)

D. Legs of Iron - A fourth kingdom. Strong as iron that will break all the other kingdoms. Roman Empire (27 B.C. - 520 A.D. [approx.])

E. Feet of Iron and Clay mixed - A mixed kingdom of people that will be forced to unite – The revived Roman Empire, which today is known as the European Union. At present it has some 27 countries. They are Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom (England). That leaves 93 countries still to come under the European Union’s control. How it will all be accomplished is an issue that only God has the answer to.

This as we have already begun to see, are the beginning stages for the rule of the Antichrist and his false prophet. The Antichrist will come in on the wings of a “False Peace” for Israel and be proclaimed the greatest peacemaker of all time…but it will only be a false peace that will last only 3 ½ years when it is broken. The Antichrist will become the head of the European Union permanently until the Battle of Armageddon and when the Lord ends it all forever!

A Rock, not cut by human hands is seen, smashing the feet of Iron and Clay, and causing the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold to become broken and change to chaff, before being blown away by the wind, never to be seen again. Then the rock becomes a mountain that fills the earth. God will establish his own Kingdom, and it will endure forever. Future prophetic event that occurs at the end of the Great Tribulation with the fall of Babylon the Great (Rev. 18)

As for the ANTICHRIST:

Four prophets repeatedly refer to the Antichrist as the Assyrian: Isaiah, Ezekiel, Hosea and Malachi. This means that:

1. He will arise from a nation that was part of the old Assyrian Empire (Isa. 10:5, etc.).

The prophet Daniel describes him both as:

2. He will come up from among the 10 nations of the Revised Roman Empire (see Daniel, Chapter 7, verse 8), and likewise

3. He will come out of one of the four divisions of the old Grecian Empire (i.e., out of either Greece, Turkey, Syria or Egypt; see Daniel, Chapter 8, verse 9); and will arise in the latter time of their kingdom (see Daniel, Chapter 8, verse 23).

Daniel further describes him:

4. He is the king of the north from Syria (see Daniel, Chapter 11, verse 40). This fixes the Antichrist as rising from Syria, immediately north of Israel. There is much about his coming reign that can be discerned from a study of the Syrian king, Anitochus Epiphanes (Dan. 11:21-39), as a prototype of this man of sin and his future dealings with nation Israel. The 11th chapter of Daniel is a chapter of mostly fulfilled prophecy: verses 1-39 are fulfilled in history, while verses 40-45 shift to events at thetime of the end. The recorded historical events can be easily deciphered with the help of a good study Bible. What is important to note here is that the Antichrist will not rise from Europe, where most western Bible prophecy teachers are looking for him. Finally, the Apostle John describes him as arising out of the seven Babylonian world kingdoms that have oppressed or will yet oppress Israel:

5. He is the seventh and final world ruler to oppress Israel, heading the Revived Grecian Empire (see Revelation, Chapter 17, verses 10 and 11).

The Bible speaks of six world kingdoms that have ruled Israel in the past: Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece and Rome. Rome fell apart. With the European Economic Community (EEC) on the ascendancy, it looks like the Revised Roman Empire is being put back together in fulfillment of Bible prophecy. A confederacy of 10 nations will be formed in the last of the last days inside the boundaries of the oldvRoman Empire. These 10 nations will make up the Revised Roman Empire, and shall become the seventh great world kingdom. In his rise to power, the Antichrist will uproot three of these kings or heads of state (Dan. 7:8,20). After a short space of approximately 3 ½ years, the remaining kings shall give their power, kingdom and authority to the Antichrist, as he establishes the eighth and final world kingdom before the return of Jesus to reign over the earth: the Revived Greacian Empire.

I

Summary: Although the Antichrist will come out of the Revised Roman Empire,(the European Union) his origin must be from one of the four divisions of the old Grecian Empire—Greece, Turkey, Syria or Egypt—which Daniel 11 clearly shows to be Syria.

The antichrist will come from the middle east not from America, as every seems to think. He will hold the title King of Jerusalem and his line will run from that of Titus.

Now we will look at how it is in line with the events of today and in the very near future.

A. The prophetic dream of Nebuchadnezzar - Chaldean King of Babylon. “For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the gentiles be come in” (Romans 11:25 kjv) The year is 604 b.c. King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon awakens after a disturbing dream. The dream was so disturbing that he hardly slept during the night. So he calls on his astrologers and demands that they not only interpret the dream but they are to tell him what the dream was! And if they can’t tell him the dream and its interpretation, King Nebuchadnezzar is going to have them killed! Nebuchadnezzar wants to make sure that they tell him the truth and demonstrate proof of their powers by identifying the dream.

Certainly Nebuchadnezzar’ demand was humanly impossible. But what is impossible with man is possible with God. Daniel inquires of God what the dream was and the interpretation thereof. Nebuchadnezzar grants ‘ an audience with the king and hears an amazing story. God has chosen to Reveal a staggering mystery to Nebuchadnezzar: God is showing him the future starting from the then-present time (604 b.c.) unto the end of the age (the not-too-distant future). Now it is important to note that God does not Reveal all the nations that will exist throughout history. Rather, he Reveals those nations significant in his plans for Israel, the messiah Jesus Christ, and the final battle of the ages known as Armageddon. Here again, God is Revealing and authenticating his deity by Revealing the future accurately before the future occurs. In fact, the events recorded in Daniel as so accurate that many non-believers have tried to date the book of Daniel over 400 years later, after the events took place!

This of course is incorrect and negates the startling and 100% accurate prophecies given by the almighty God through his angels to Daniel. Daniel tells Nebuchadnezzar that his dream was that of a metal man. The metal man had a head of gold, chest and arms of silver, waist and thighs of bronze, legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay. Notice that the metals decrease in value from precious, expensive and rare to ordinary, cheap and plentiful. Notice also that the metals increase in hardness from soft and malleable to hard and brittle.

The five partitions of metal represented are very significant to bible prophecy. God is Revealing that there are five gentile kingdoms that will rule over Israel. At least two important lessons are to be learned by this prophecy:

1) Israel can expect to be ruled by several kingdoms and

2) the world can gauge “what time it is” in God’s prophetic clock by observing the nation of Israel. Of extreme significance is the absence of any reference to the Christian church. Why? Because the Christian church was a mystery not to be Revealed to the nation of Israel until a later date. This is reinforced later in Daniel when an angel of God confirms that the prophecies are for Daniel’s people (the jews) and Daniel’s holy city (Jerusalem). Therefore, it is very important to understand these prophecies in the context of the nation of Israel.

What are the five gentile kingdoms that have ruled/will rule theNation of Israel? They are easy to identify:

(A.) gentile kingdom - reign over Israel.

1 Babylon - head of gold - 625 b.c. to 539 b.c.

2 Mede Persia - chest and arms of silver5 - 39 b.c. to 331 b.c.

3 Greece waist and thighs of bronze 331 b.c. to 164 b.c.

4 Rome legs of iron 164 b.c. - 70 a.d.

(b) The rise of church, decline of Israel - 32 a.d. - 70 a.d. (church Age) 32 a.d. - present

(c)The rise of Israel, decline of church (not represented in 1948 - future

5 Antichrist - feet of iron and clay - future years

II. Understanding Nebuchadnezzar’s dream:

The prophet Daniel interpreted Nebuchadnezzar’s dream when he was a very young man. Nearly forty years later he was given a vision that confirmed and further explained his first vision of the future. In this vision, Daniel saw major world empires represented by four beasts. The representation of the four beasts in Daniel’s vision forty years later was understood as this:

(1) The lion represents Nebuchadnezzar’s Babylonian kingdom

The ribs in the bear’s mouth indicated three conquests.)

(3) The leopard, having four wings and four heads, was a prophetic Picture of the Grecian kingdom. (after the death of Alexander the great; his empire was divided between his four generals.)

(4) The fourth beast, described as dreadful and terrible, and to be exceedingly strong, represents the “new roman empire”. The “little horn speaking great things” will emerge as a powerful political leader to whom three national heads will give their full allegiance who is the Antichrist.

III. Additional information:

Ancient Babylon was located where modern-day Iraq is now Mede Persian empire eventually co-jointly ruled by Darius the Mede and Cyrus of Persia.

Alexander the great’s general’s (Ptolemy, Lysimachu, Cassander and Seleucus) descendants reign Israel’s temporary blindness to gospel will cease at end of church age (Romans 11:25-29) The church, beginning at the resurrection of Christ in 32 a.d., does not reign over Israel The 7 future years do not begin until after the church age has ended and the focus is on Israel. As we now know, six of these kingdoms have come and gone. And we know that Israel was destroyed by the roman emperor Titus Vespasian in 70 a.d. Israel was scattered to all the nations of the world; just as prophesied by God. And now, in the 20th century, we have seen the rebirth of Israel as an independent nation in 1948. This is highly significant in light of Romans 11:25-29. Israel had not been in control of their holy city Jerusalem, as an independent nation, since 586 b.c. after 2552 years, Israel recaptured the city of Jerusalem in 1967 during the six-day war.The vineyard of the Lord of hosts is fertile again and the fig tree is putting forth her leaves. The seventh kingdom is now nearing its end of becoming a one world government and is now being called “the new roman empire”.
